Lupine Lane is extremely excited to offer a private, progressive Kindergarten.  After a wonderful first year in 2013-2014, we are elated to continue to have the honor and responsibility of teaching children during their Kindergarten year.

Lupine Lane strives to instill worldly knowledge, practical skills, respect of self and others, self-confidence and a love for creativity in every child.  Our prime intention is to guide the whole child—academics, creative, social-emotional, physical—in a developmentally appropriate manner.  We strive to provide children with relevant, safe, natural, real world experiences in a caring, supportive environment.

We utilize a child-driven, interest-based exploration to ignite each child’s focus on a particular topic.  Once a topic of interest is discovered, we begin an in depth, multidimensional, interdisciplinary focus that lasts 4-8 weeks per topic.  This approach includes long-term projects that cover an abundance of key developmental goals, which allow the child to develop academically, creatively, social-emotionally and physically in a naturally occurring manner that unfolds through self-regulated discovery.  These projects are supported by daily lessons that highlight literacy, mathematics, science, art, music, fine and gross motor skills, inquiry, problem-solving and social interaction.

All short and long term goals are justified by an aspect of a Key Child Development Theory from one of seven theorists: Jean Piaget, Erik Erikson, Abraham Maslow, Lev Vygotsky, John Dewey, Louise Derman-Sparks, and Howard Gardner.  This justification provides another level of verification that both short and long term goals are developmentally appropriate and have specific intention.

With this overall scope in mind, please see our 5-6 Year Key Developmental Goals that we will use to inform daily lessons and long-term projects so that each child will achieve the outlined Objectives by the end of their Kindergarten year.
