Think about the number of transitions in your child’s day–house to car, car to school, school to car, car to store, store to car, car to home. That’s quite a bit and doesn’t factor in all of the transitions once these bigger transitions are made. And, this is probably on the conservative side given the busy lives today. Everyone’s dance card is full.
Many times, these shifts are ripe for possibilities of turmoil. If we understand what children are capable of and what we are asking of them, perhaps we can more mindfully and peacefully go through transitions.
