The Week of April 20th at Lupine Lane

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Just a reminder to Lakeway folks, there will not be class this week. Classes will continue April 30th, and we will add drop off Absolutely Art and Kinder Cooks in the afternoon! To sign up, click here for the registration form. Then, turn it in or mail it in to the LAC (105 Cross Creek, Lakeway, TX 78734).

This week we’ll continue with our colonial theme!

In Lil’ Absolutely Art and Absolutely Art, we’ll begin in circle time and discuss how the English traveled to the New World and brought the English flag with them. As time passed and the settler’s gained independence, they began to fly their own flags. The kids will paint their own flag that reflects their personality. Then, we will take a look at what the town potter did on his wheel and learn how to make a piece of pottery without a wheel, by creating a pinch pot.

In Lil’ Kinder Cooks, we’ll begin in circle time and talk about how the Native Americans already occupied the land when the settlers arrived from England. They shared their corn with the settlers and taught them how to grow their own. Corn was one of the most abundant crops in the New World, so many dishes were made with it. We will make corn chowder first, and then we’ll make a desert that used rarer ingredients. Spices were coveted since they were imported. So, ginger snaps were not so common, but enjoyed by all colonial children!
See you this week!
